Certificate III in Sport and Recreation and the Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management
Certificate III in Sport and Recreation course has been designed to cater for individuals wanting to focus on developing their career in the sport and recreation Industry. This is a very practical course with daily sessions training in martial arts, surfing, gym and even nutrition (depending on the electives). It also contains the theory needed to ensure a successful career in the sport and recreation industry. This qualification is also recommended to amateur athletes who are involved in administering a sport and recreational club or business and its records. It is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as being the level of an unsupervised employee and is the minimum level recognised by industry for entry level instructors conducting their own classes in either martial arts, surfing or the gym. The Diploma of Sports Management teaches students the core skills to either continue on a career path in the sport and recreation industry or to upgrade their qualifications at a university with a bachelor degree in the area of the sport and recreation industry. The Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management will teach students an understanding of sport and athlete development, how to produce sporting information and media content, and gain skills such as managing teams, leadership, communicating in groups, conflict resolution, problem solving, rational and critical thinking, and managing finances. Students can choose one of the listed electives below: surfing from beginner to advanced; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; diving; snorkelling; yoga; nutrition; capoeira. Diploma students receive a full gym membership at a 24 hour gym when they choose an elective of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, swimming, yoga, nutrition or capoeira.
