B.S. in Chemistry with a Concentration in Biochemistry
This program offers a comprehensive education for students interested in the sciences. Along with traditional classes, undergraduates study the growing fields of organic chemistry, organometallics and separation techniques as well as subjects ranging from Genetics to Bioorganic Chemistry. The rigorous program explores the chemical processes that permit organisms to grow, repair damage and reproduce. Students will gain hands-on laboratory experience, while studying the chemical basis for organisms at the molecular level. Chemistry majors graduate with a wide choice of career possibilities as researchers and administrators in the chemical, environmental, health and pharmaceutical industries. The program provides the opportunity to obtain practical experience and networking connections through valuable internships at top companies throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Students should have a high school diploma with quality point index of 3.0. International students should have the combined critical reading and math score from the SAT of 1000 is required to be considered for scholarships. They also need to have a minimum score of 61 on internet based TOEFL. Students who score between 61 and 99 will be asked to take an English Language Placement exam when they arrive on campus. Students who score 100 or higher fully qualify as English proficient. They need to have score of 6.0 on IELTS.
